Subject: Depends if you’re installing 64bit or 32bit 8.5 version
Hello Raj,
We are in the process of upgrading our servers to ND8.5 64bit on AIX platform. I think first thing you need to do is decide whether you will be installing the 32bit or 64bit version of the ND8.5 version. I believe 64bit is better for the future. However, if you do the 64bit version then you need to ensure that all your 3rd party apps, including backup software, etc are compatible with a 64bit version.
In our case, to be ready to upgrade to ND8.5 64 bit HF554 (hotfix includes IFP5), we had to first do the following:
Upgrade our AIX OS Technology level to 9. I think minimum needed was 7, but 9 was better and the latest. So we went From: AIX 5.3.0 Technology Level 5, Service Pack 6 TO: AIX5.3 Technology Level 9 Service Pack 02 (5300-09-02-0849)
Had to upgrade our TSM server version to 5.5.3.0 to be compatible later on with the TSM 64 bit client versions
After the Notes upgrade to 8.5 64bit, that same weekend we had to ensure the backup team upgrade the TSM clients and Storage agents, etc to the 64bit version – Upgrade of API,BA and TDP to 64-bit + STA = storage agents:
– TSM API 64-bit V6.1.0
– TSM BA 64-bitclient: V6.1.0
– TDP for Domino 64-bit : Version 5, Release 5, Level 2
– STA to version 5.5.3.0
We have yet to enable transaction logging and DAOS, which we shall do once all servers are upgraded.
Hope this helps…good luck.
