When trying to upgrade a user to “roaming”, a new entry is created in the admin4 database:
→ Update Roaming User State in Person Record
→ In Progress
This remains in progress even after issuing “tell adminp process all”.
Since this request never completes, the “user can roam” field in the People View of the address book never changes from “no” to “in progress”…
Anyone know why this request never completes!?

When i had this problem, it was because the user ignored the prompt message…
I would
Go to the replicator page, and clcik start, this may kick it off and ask the user to be upgraded.
Try and restart the PC ( to clear the cache ) and go back into lotus notes. The user may get asked again.
check the notes log on the server… There may be an ACL problem with the Bookmark, names.nsf or journal

I tried out as you suggested, but the problem remains… It seems to be a problem with the processing of the request on the server, not a problem with roaming as such…
When a user is upgraded to roaming, this trigegrs a sequene of requests in the admin4 database. This initial request that triggers off the roaming upgrade remains in progress, holding up the entire procedure…
Could it be a problem of insufficent rights on the server?

We are trying to do this on our test server. Could the fact that the request is to be performed on the “Administration Server for the Domino Directory”, and not on the test server itself?

The user will not be prompted unless they authenticate against their home server.
I have also seen prompting not happen if the user’s replication schedule was set to less than 5 minute intervals.

No - nothing happens. The user is not prompted, and the “user can roam” entry in the domino addres book does not change from “no” to “in progress”…
