(untitled) in form list

The form I was working on in Designer now appears in the form list as “(untitled)”, instead of its normal form name. I cannot open the form, nor can any of the docs that use this form find it. How can I rename this form, or open it? What could have caused this? Thanks very much for any tips. Additional info: I cannot know for sure that (untitled) is the form I was working on, but the timestamp is suggestive of that, also the fact that the form I was working on no longer appears in the list. I did search this forum and the LN 6&7 forum before posting this. There is no error message when the (untitled) appears.

Subject: need details

It seems you took offense at my questions and suggestions in the 6/7 forum. I see you have answered some of them. I suggest you work with me on this because I really am probably the best possible person to figure out how to fix your problem. If there’s an bug report in this it will probably be assigned to me to fix. I’m trying to help, and asking questions and making suggestions that will lead you most quickly to a solution.

What do you mean you “cannot open” the form? What happens when you try?

Can you remember what type of change you made to it when this problem came about?

Use the design element infobox to compare the items in the mystery form to the items in another form. Are any items missing? Do any items have a suspicious looking value? Pay attention to the item flags (SUMMARY, etc) and datatype and length, as well as the value.

What’s the value of the $TITLE item, its datatype and flags?

Subject: possible clues

Below is what I found and what got me beyond this problem. I tried to reproduce the problem today, and it occurred for me once, but only once. I can no longer reproduce the behavior consistently. Perhaps the problem will crop up again for someone else.

Alice Ramage 01-Nov-2008 12:20:19 PM - I think I’ve found what causes the form to get named to “(untitled)” in the form list – but not why this is happening. I am moving a section from one page (row) of a tabbed table to another. For example, I move the section “Fund Recovery” from the first page to the tenth page using Ctrl-x and Ctrl-p. I get a message asking if I’m sure I want to do this, that I won’t be able to go back to the way it was before; I select Yes. The section pastes fine, but the form is now named (untitled) in the form list.
