Unread marks not updated and view not refreshed correctly in Notes 8.0.2 client

HiI experience Notes 8.0.2 client does not update unread marks correctly and folders are not refreshed. When recieving an email either to my inbox or to a folder by a mail rule I recieve notification on the lower process bar that I have new mail. But the inbox does not reflect this. Hitting F9 refreshes the inbox and I see the new mail. I have set Notes to automatically refresh inbox.

When reading a new mail by preview it is not marked read, and the folder containing the mail is still bold black. Pressing “Insert” marks the mail read, and the folder turnes normal type black.

I have set Notes to mark mails read when opened for preview.

Sometimes opening a mail marks the mail read, but the folder containing the mail is still bold black, indicating I have unread mails in the folder. The folder indicates I have 1 unread message, but all messages are read. Hitting insert on a documents marks the document read, and the folder still indicates 1 unread mail. Hitting insert again marks the mail read and the folder now turns normal type text, not indicating any unread mails.

When working in a local replica of my mailfile I experience more errors with refresh and unread marks. Working with mailfile on server behaves better, but especially mails in other folders than inbox is a problem also on server.

This is a confirmed behaviour on 4 different 8.0.2 clients. I did not experience this in 8.0.1.

It is a small issue I can live with, but I am preparing to rollout 8.0.2 clients to 300 users, and I think they will find this annoying. Any bright ideas? Or is this in fact a 8.0.2 bug? Any chance of a fix?

Subject: I am having the same issues

I didn’t work with any previous version of Lotus Domino/Notes 8.0x, so I can’t speak to what was said about 8.0.1

But I’m having issues with marking emails read when in preview pane in several Notes 8.0.2 clients (on Vista, plenty of RAM and HD space).

Inbox preview doesn’t refresh and/or doesn’t refresh folder count very quickly.

And folders never seem to refresh for me, even when tapping the Refresh F9 key.

I’ve had the additional problem where focus moves away from cursor and gets lost. Then I have to close out of Notes client and then re-open in order for mouse click to work again.

I was just days away from a roll-out; now I’m getting concerned.

Any hotfixes coming out to deal with this?

I can confirm this Bug and the behaviors.

I am using Lotus Notes 8.0.2 on Linux so that seems to be a general Bug.

We are experiencing the same problem. And we are about to roll out the 8.0.2 client to about 200 users.

F9 refresh works, hear the sound, get the popup, but mailbox does not refresh and “show” the new mail. Running Notes 8.0.2 CCH1 company wide on Windows XP service pack 3.

Several of our customers have reported something along the lines of this issue today on their XP client.

Subject: Unred marks on Folders not updating

I can confirm this is happening on Vista, XP and Linux. I have one particular folder that does this. I have tried compact, updall, fixup and CTRL+SHIFT+F9, and nothing fixes this. HELP!!!

Subject: DAMO 8.0.2 Read Marks

To resolve the read/unread marks sync issue, I made the following change to the notes.ini with in C:\Users(Your ID)\AppData\Local\Lotus\DominoForOutlook

Updated

FROM:

OUTLOOK_TYPE=0

TO:

OUTLOOK_TYPE=4

Now the read marks get sync’ed both ways.

Note: Your account also has to be setup for sync’ing the read marks from the domino server. To verify, with in Lotus Notes, right click on the Mail database and choose Application-Properties and navigate the last tab and at the top look at the section “Unread Mark Options”

The “Don’t maintain unread marks” should be unchecked and the “Replicate unread marks:” should be set to “All servers”
