One of my users is having Unread Marks issues.
When he highlights an Unread message it goes from red to black even though he doesn’t double click and open the message.
Fixup, updall, compact didn’t help

One thing that could cause this is if the preview pane is open (even just a tiny bit that you can barely see) and the database property to mark documents read if viewed in preview is on.

That was it… The preview pane was one pixel up from being all the way down and turning itsself off.
