We’ve recently upgraded our Servers to Domino 8.5 and now notice that user’s (7.03 & 8.5) mail unread count on many users gets out of sync and shows unread count when all messages are read. Anyone come accross this or suggest why this happens ?

We too have recently upgraded from r7.0.3 to r8.5 FP1 and some of our users are reporting a variance between the unread count on the workspace icon and the unread count in the user’s mail file. Using the View/Refresh Unread Count option makes no difference.
Has anyone found an answer to this annoying bug?

Our unread marks are completely unreliable and screwy. They will all completely disappear even though you can see plenty of unread emails. Closing and reopening the mail db typically restores them.
Regardless, I have to refresh all the time to keep them up-to-date. Especially if you do a Ctrl-A to select all mail in a folder/view and hit delete. The unread marks almost never update in this situation.
I’ve also got repeated situations where the count is simply off. The unread count indicator in the Inbox will show (10), but there are only 6 unread messages. Deleting or marking as “read” those 6 messages will take the count down to 4, but you can’t get it to show (0). Again, closing and reopening the db or sometimes restarting has restored correct behavior. But in one case with a user’s folder I gave up and simply emptied the folder and deleted/recreated a folder with the same name to restore proper behavior.
Very buggy and annoying.

and if you navigate next they are never found and the unreads then go to zero. annoying. not sure but may be related to receving internal mail (notes to notes) only. not sure. sunday it was correct all day then monday out of control. something about receiving mail on 8.5 server.
