Unlock the "Open in Designer" option

Hi,

I created one lotus notes database with the help of template and enabled its “hide Formulas and lotusscript” option.

But i lost its template, now i want to change the design of database, but it is not giving the option of “Open in Designer”.

Is there any solution or crack available.

Thanks.

Yes, there is a crack available to display the design of a database that has had its design hidden. It’s been years and I don’t have the links anymore, but you might be able to do some searching to find the solution. Good luck!

Question (if you don’t mind): Why did you hide the design? The only database I’ve seen this done is by McAfee for their anti-virus solution Groupshield for Domino. I assume it is done so people don’t reverse engineer the database???

If you don’t have access to the template, there is little you can do.

There used to be a way to manually edit the .NSF file to allow for the option to re-appear. Nowadays, this hole has been plugged.

Even if you could get access to the design, a number of things were never part of the database to begin with: e.g. only compiled object code is kept for lotusscript agents, source code is not included.

Unless you can retrieve your template, your code is lost.

cheers,

Bram

Couldn’t you open Designer manually? It should appear on your start menu, or in the install directory. You could open Designer on its own, then do File → Database → Open and find the database.

The “Open in Designer” option is normally not there when you don’t have Designer installed, or when you don’t have sufficient access to the database.

Hi Christoph,

I have designer installed, but if you someone has hide the “Hide foruma and lotuscript” option in template and database is locked, you can not open database in designer.

I don’t have the template…

In that case I would guess that it is not possible to do what you want to do, for security reasons!

You COULD try renaming the file to something.ntf, to make it into a template, and create a new database using that template, but personally I doubt that will work!
