Hi,
I’ve created a SINGLE message and sent it to 3 users, but I’ve got TWO different messageIDs.
Message 002C6D25 - to domino user
Message 002C6D2D - to both external email clients
**** Here is the log ***
12/03/2007 04:05:16 PM Router: Message 002C6D25 delivered to USERB/DOMAIN from USERA/DOMAIN Size: 1K Time: 00:00:01 Hop Count: 1
12/03/2007 04:05:17 PM Router: Transferred 1 messages to SMTP/DOMAIN via Notes
12/03/2007 04:05:17 PM Router: [0000000B] Transferring mail to SMTP/DOMAIN via Notes
12/03/2007 04:05:22 PM Router: Message 002C6D2D transferred to SMTP/DOMAIN for user@hotmail.com from USERA/DOMAIN Size: 1K via Notes
12/03/2007 04:05:22 PM Router: Message 002C6D2D transferred to SMTP/DOMAIN for user@gmail.com from USERA/DOMAIN Size: 1K via Notes
Why single message will have 2 messageIDs ?
Thanks for your help !!
Subject: Unique messageID ?
I’m guessing that since the server has had to convert the message from Notes to SMTP format for the external recipients, that it has assigned it a new message ID.

Thanks Peter!
But I also found that some users in my company would NOT have my problem. They sent one message to 10 users (7 of them are internal users and the rest are external) but the log.nsf showed that all 10 messages pointed to ONE messageID ONLY.
Any ideas ?
Subject: RE: Unique messageID ?
This could - and I’m only guessing here - be related to how recipients have chosen to receive their mail, MIME format or Notes RichText format.
In any case, I do not see too much of a problem in it.

Hi Harkpabst,
Yes! You are right the problem is caused by MIME format or Notes RichText format setting. I’ve done the testing. Thanks a lot.
To me, it is really a problem because users often ask us to check or trace whether their mails were sent (to which users). If messageID of the one single mail is different, it may be very confused.
Anyway, thank you for your help.
