Unique Client Issue

Hello,

I’m experiencing a unique problem, I have a Lotus Notes Server (6.x) with around 150 users running Notes Client 6.5 and 6.5.1 (1/21/2004 build). Today, after months of normal operation, I am unable to setup new clients to

login into the server. Upon installation of the Notes client (I have also tried this using notes client 6.5.2 same result), I import the .id file to login in to the server for any of my users and upon entering in the password, the notes client responds back with this error message,

"The signer of this note must have editor access and the policycreator or policymodifier role to the domino directory "

Now this is only affecting users running a new installation on the notes client, web access is unaffected and existing clients are unaffected. Also, I have checked names.nsf on the server and all related ACLs, everything

looks good, if anybody has any suggestions, please reply.

Hi Matthew,

I think this is referring to your setup prolicies. Try Re-Saving the policy documents with an ID that is authorised/has the access mentioned above. It’s possible that the last signer/admin has left or has been recertified/renamed.

Sure, they used to be called User Setup Profiles in R5 but have been extended and are now called policy documents. You can find them in the Name and Address Book (names.nsf)under ‘Configuration’, ‘Policies’.

If you want to know more about how they work then you need to read about them in the Administration Help database as I can’t really tell you all about them here.

Suffice to say that they are involved in client configuration if you use them which may explain your problem with setting up new users.
