Hi All,
I’m getting users who are on 8.5 client that all of a sudden have hundreds of contacts added to there mail personal address book including mine as well.
Does anyone know what causes this behavior? As soon as i remove them, minutes later they get re-added.
Address Book template design is R7.

as I was reading your posting, I was thinking “Recent Contacts”, until you said that it was an R7 PAB design. Are you sure it’s an R7 design? The names.nsf design is supposed to be automatically updated with the R8.x template when you upgrade the client.
Also, it may be that Recent Contact entries are still being added to the names.nsf, even if you’re not using the correct design.
At the very least, I recommend that you upgrade your names.nsf immediately using the template that comes with the client. Then go to the Recent Contacts view and (if there are entries there) delete them if you choose.

Go to your contacts preference and check “Do not automatically add names to the Recent Contacts view”

Thanks. Great stuff. The reason why some ppl are using the R7 template including myself is because our blackberry server version isnt compataible with R7 address book templates if synched on the bb server. It causes the server to crash. I have disabled rep on my address book with blackberry, upgraded the pab to R8, unchecked the option, deleted all those uninvited contacts from my recent contacts view, downgraded back to R7, created a new replica on the blackberry server and so far so good.
