Underscore in user's smtp address when mail is addressed to a group?

Hi!

Here is the problem. We have upgraded domino servers from 6.5.1 to 7.0.2. One domino server (internal) is in our local network domain and is used for internal Notes mail routing, and the other one (external) is for smtp mails. We have all users’s email addresses in form name.surname@xxx.xx, means with DOT not with UNDERSCORE. Now, we have a problem that when smtp mail is addressed to a group (existing on internal server) then external server sends mails to internal server to a particular user from group addressed as name_surname@xxx.xx. I could say that external server ‘unpack’ recipients and also in that case sender’s address is in form name_surname/dominodomain/country@xxx.xx.

It is obvious that recepients do not exist! My question is does anyone know where does domino server 7.0.2 transform smtp user’s addresses and add underscore, is it some default value of smtp address?

This email address transformation does not happen when smtp mail is addressed to a specific user and I should mention that this transformation does not happen to every user. I am in one of those groups and I always get mails addressed to a group but most of us does not. Does it have anything to do with directory catalog that we replicate everyday from internal to external server?

Please, if you have any idea I will apreciate it!

Thank you in advance.

Subject: Underscore in user’s smtp address when mail is addressed to a group?

Hi!

I just want to say that we fixed problem. The problem was in rebuilding and replicating directory catalog from internal server to external one, since external server directory assistance was looking in replicated catalog. We deleted and recreated directory catalog on internal server and then replicated it.
