I’m having issues with UNC hotspots – or any hotspots, really. They just don’t work. The Open option is grayed out.
I’ve tried Link, URL, http:// and file://\servername
None of them “open”. They’re “hot”, the cursor changes to the hand with finger icon, but it won’t open. Any ideas? It’s incredibly frustrating when something that’s just supposed to work… just doesn’t.

Subject: Got it…
You need to put the URL / UNC in the “value” field of the hotspot dialog. A huge pita, especially considering Outlook will create a UNC hotspot automatically…
Subject: Not quite correct
The way you’re doing it is to give the url another name. If you just want to put a url in a message and have it live when recieved, just paste it in. There is a check box preference for this.
