Unble to resolve: "The linked document cannot be found in the view" error

One user is reporting this problem which gets asked quite often in the forum, but never answered, at least not satisfactorily.

The user uses an iNotes template. We tried refreshing the database from a fresh iNotes template, or even refrshing with his original iNotes to no avail.

This user only has problems with calendar entries and Meeting change notices.

I have tried deleting the documents from the hidden view in the bookmarks database, even deleting the whole database(bookmarks) along with the user’s desktop file, neither of which fix the problem for very long. As soon as I have flushed the Bookmarks database, the user can open Notices, calendar entries, mail, anything. Then after a few attempts, I get the error ‘The linked document cannot be found in the view’

We tried replacing his design with another iNotes template (multi-lingual) and the user exhibits the same behavior.

I am at my wits end with this problem. I’ve exhausted all but creating a new mail from scratch and transferring all the folders and the documents therein as well as the documents in the all documents view. I want to avoid this as the user has a lot of folders and I have no time to do this.

If anyone has any insight, or useful information, I’d appreciate you communicate it to the great people of this forum.

I have had the same problem a couple of times. The issue is with the bookmark.nsf. If you repalce the design the problem is not fixed. My solution was to close Notes, rename the bookmark.nsf to bookmark.nsf.old, then when you reopen Notes the bookmark.nsf will be recreated from the local template, and your problem should be solved.Good luck

This worked for me too. I had a user with the same error msg when trying to create a new memo or tried to use reply.

Thanks for replying Mike. I tried that too, didn’t work.

I ended up replicating the mailfile locally, then deleting the server copy, replacing the design on the local copy and pushing the new one to the server. The user hasn’t complained in a while, but I know that didn’t FIX the entire problem. Realistically, we told him to stop using the mini calendar because it seemed to introduce corruption in the documents.

Try deleting the cache.ndk file. This was the only thing that worked for me.

Subject: Bookmark.nsf worked: “The linked document cannot be found in the view” error

Renaming bookmark.nsf to bookmark.old resolved this issue for me.

Thanks for your posting! I’d never survive as a Notes Admin without this forum!!
