A Lotus Notes 8.5 client is unable to click on URL’s. I attempted to switch the webbrowser from “Use the browser I have set as the default for this operating system” to “Use the browser embedded in this client” but the radio boxes are grayed out. I can click on “Restore Defaults” and the radio box will automatically switch itself to “Use the browser embedded in this client” however after I click OK and go back to -->Preferences–>Web Browser, the radio box is back to “Use the browser I have set as the default for this operating system”. And I still can’t click on URL’s on an email. I reinstalled the client but I still have the same problem. This is happening in only one client.
Subject: Policies or ACL possibly
Have you checked if the user in question has a desktop policy set in the primary address book?It could be that these settings are being enforced from there.
A long shot may be it’s an ACL issue on the local names.nsf database. I know “location” documents are stored in this but I’m not entirely sure about the web browser settings that are outside of the location document. Make sure the user has write access to their own local names.nsf file.
Also, you may want to check they can write to their lotus notes directory correctly on the HDD (for instance if it’s running on Windows)
Subject: Fix is to make IE default browser in XP
The fix was to make IE the default browser. The user had upgraded to IE8 from IE7. I had to go to “Control Panel”–> “add/remove”–>“Set Program Access and Defaults”–>“custom”—>“choose a default web browser”.
After I did that I was then able to choose between integrated browser and IE.
