Unable to run Mac B2

I am unable to run B2 on my MBP, i have been running B1 since release with only a few crashes.

I downloaded both the basic and the standard versions of B2 and i have not been able to run either one of them, the furthest i have got is to get the home page up with Basic and fairly soon after that i get the spinning pizza of death - and at that point i kill the process and do a full restart - i have left it with the pizza of death for 14 hours but it is hung.

I DO have vmware on my machine (not a beta version) which i cannot just delete as i have to work with some windows programs, i have searched for the plugin file which seems to cause some people problems but cannot find it in my non beta version of vmware.

I have dropped back to B1 Basic which i find runs best on my MBP. and I have trashed all data and install and synched from my 8.0.2 test server, the mail app is 8.5

Since i have trashed the data folders i have no dumps - but would be willing to try again to get some info .

Sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with this latest beta. A few questions.

  1. Did you uninstall the Beta 1 code before installing Beta 2? Please be sure to run the uninstaller before installing Standard.

  2. When you install, do you get any errors when installing, or does it complete fine?

  3. Does anything show in the status bar when it’s not starting up?

  4. Do you store your password in keychain or log in directly?

i tend to use the basic as the standard version is just too clunky just now - and the basic is way way faster.

there is no de-installer with the basic so what i do is

1,delete the notes.app in applications

2,delete the notes preferance file

3,rename or delete the data directory

i HAVE installed the standard version - by using the installer - and de-installed in the same way. if you want me to supply a system report from the profiler.

I have a free day next week so will be able to try again if you want some NSD info…

it updates the design of the databases and hangs about one min into the start up… i can actually do some things before it hangs and i have managed to shut it down and start it again before it hangs solid. but i cannot get any version of B2 to run… mind you B1 is quite stable just now so though i have 8.0.2 in my vmware windows environment i do not have to use that at all.

I will install a CentOs Vmaware and see how the client works in that.

Subject: Other files to delete before reinstalling…

/Library/Receipts/Lotus Notes Installer.pkg/Library/Receipts/Lotus Notes Installer_English.pkg

Note that /Library is under your startup volume, like Macintosh HD → Library.

We’re working on being able to upgrade build-to-build without having to delete all these files and hope to have this done by GA.

Subject: i tried again

I tried again today, but even though notes B2 ran for a bit it then hung and i had to reboot my machine… so thanks for the file list but no go… i will wait for B3 if we get one…

Subject: uninstalled

I have not been using the uninstaller as there is no uninstaller for the basic version. I do not like the eclipse version as it is so slow compared to the basic - and until Apple release a faster MacBookPro - the speed is the most important thing after reliability. Will try when the next beta comes out.
