"Unable to launch program" in OS X after setting Safari or Mozilla as the default browser in Notes?!

OS X 10.3.2 and the latest Safari and Mozilla. Does anyone have an idea as to what is gonig on?

I can’t tell you why these applications don’t work with Notes, but there is a workaround using AppleScript:

I would be interested in your experiences, if you decide to try this on your machine. There seem to be a problems on some configurations - especially together with Panther, ColorSync and Illustrator CS Scripts.
