The old Unable to extend ID table issue which was supposed to be resolved in numerous releases prior to now but never was. We go with an upgrade to 8.5 with DAOS hoping a silver lining would present itself and … no.
Come on IBM, you’ve got the solution to get around the 64Gb limit, now sort this out once and for all.
Compact -B fails with ‘Insufficient memory’ or ‘Unable to extend an ID table - insufficient memory’
Information on Notes ID tables
Both of those show the problem is present in Domino versions up to 8.0.
From Steven’s post, it sounds like it’s still a problem in 8.5.
I have one customer with this problem in two databases. Both databases have over 1000000 documents at any given time, with 1000 or more new docs created daily, and a similar number deleted by a custom archiving process.
David, Scott response shows the issue and further information. We carry some large databases I’ll detail below, and unfortunately we are continually rebuilding database replicas over WANs. We have raised this issue back with IBM some years ago and the response we got was hopeless. Finally we were informed of a workaround (contained in Scotts response) but we do this on our main server every 6 weeks.
Main Server:
2.3M docs, truncated replication puts it at 18Gb / DAOS at 150Gb. Not sure on the number of additions and deletions but it’s substantial on a daily basis. Purge level @ 10 days.
