This is my first post. Anyway I have a one user that is able to authenticate to our Notes web apps server however he is unable to authenticate to his webmail server. We are using the standard security (shortname/userid and internet password in the person doc). The server settings are identical. but the web apps server is R5.0.12 but the webserver is 6.5.1
If anyone knows please let us know?

You state that “We are using the standard security (shortname/userid and internet password in the person doc).” Have you checked the R6 server’s server doc to be sure? If the R6 server were upgraded from R5, then don’t bother checking, but if it was a clean install, then note that the default in a new R6 server doc is “fewer name variations with more security”.

Sorry for the late reply as I have been away and have returned to the problem, the person docs have replicated and the hashed value is the same on boths svrs and this server has been upgraded from R5. However the user can now login with his FN and LN but not his shortname.

I do not know what you checked when you say that “the server settings are identical”…
perhaps his person document has not been recently replicated over to the domino server running your “webmail server”.
Compare the “hashed” value of the internet password field of the person document on a domino server he can authentificate with to the hashed value of the internet password field of the person document on the domino server he can NOT authentificate to - if the hashed values are different, then the person documents are out of synch - push the domino directory from the HUB server to the spoke he is having trouble authificating to - then do the comparison again - hopefully they will match now and he’ll be able to logon
