I’m using an outline in my application. The outline has some entries in it for shared-private-on-first-use folders. I want people to be able to put documents into these folders by dragging and dropping them onto the outline entries.
I can do this using the uiDB PostDragDrop event like this;
-
Check the Entryname parameter - this tells me which entry of the outline the user just dropped things onto
-
If it’s a folder entry, do a PutAllInFolder()
…and it works!
In the Notes help, it says that Entryname is “The alias name of the design element the event is executed against”. I have given alias names to the outline entries. However, Entryname is giving me the outline entry’s label, not its alias.
The reason I’d like to use an alias is that it makes the application robust against changes. Say the users decide that the outline entry should say “Selected documents” instead of “My selections”. If I use an alias, the code does not have to change. Unfortunately, even if I define an alias, Entryname is giving me “Selected documents” instead of the alias.
I THOUGHT I had the alias working a couple of days ago - I’m sure I didn’t imagine it - but now it doesn’t work.
Any advice appreciated! Cheers, Ian
