Prompts for my password displays the loading message and then the small signin box disappears and nothing.
I see the following runnig–>
user@butu1:~$ ps -ef|grep lotus
user 15875 1 0 11:44 ? 00:00:03 /opt/ibm/lotus/notes/framework/…/notes /authenticate
user 15876 15875 0 11:44 ? 00:00:00 nsdexec 15875 /home/user/lotus/notes/data
user 16094 9016 0 11:56 pts/1 00:00:00 grep lotus
This is worse than when I initially installed it a few days ago during which I was able to use the client to read and send messages. Even back then it seemed a bit unstable. Now it is totally useless. I did do a reinstall after an ubuntu update which seemed to have broken something badly that I can’t seem to fix.
Questions:
How to properly remove and reinstall
How to start client from the command line
How to debug. Is there a parameter maybe on the command line script
Where to look for errors. I can’t find any log to provide clues.
are there software updates to the client listed below

Subject: Running on a supported version of Ubuntu?
Only 8.04 LST is supported officially AFAIK. It should work fine on it and I would even say it is running faster than on Windows. If you are testing it on a newer Ubuntu you WILL have problems. Too many things hard-coded I guess…
Not that it is not doable, just more difficult. And since those debs are basically converted from RPMs with alien they do not contain dependency info, so you might be actually missing a dependency or two.
Try running it from a terminal and look for error messages.
I run 8.5 on Ubuntu 9.04 and have had very minor problems. Much faster than Windows. Some font issues but there are sources on net that instruct what font packages to load. I’m not a power user, but I’ve had no problems at all with 8.5/9.04
