I have a client that when she is in her calendar, selects TOOLS/PREFERENCES, and then gets an error “Type mismatch on external name: DELEGATIONACLMANAGER”. I turn on debug and step through to error out–and no problems, I get right into the preferences. So if debug is on, she can get to preferences, of course she has to deal with the debug window–but if she goes to TOOLS/PREFERENCES with debug off, then we error out and cannot get to the preferences. Any thoughts??

Try this: Delete the CACHE.DSK file on her dektop. It will be recreated when you start Notes client.
Or/and,
Delete the ACLManagement script from her database and do a replace design template on her database.

I deleted the ACLManagement script and then did a “refresh” design and still have the same results. Would a replace design be the better option?? Also, when I search for the file CACHE.DSK on her pc, the file is not found–I don’t understand why?
