An independant department is requesting the Outlook client with DAMO instead of the Notes client. This, if we drill down into their complaints, only because Outlook 2003 does a quicker and nice type-ahead when sending mails. When you start typing, it shows not only the address book recipients but also the last mailed persons. This even when they are not in the addressbook.
If this functionality is not in Notes, they are requesting DAMO, with all other potential problems (looking at other users calendars, sharing mailboxes is complexer, replication is not tune-able,…)
Any idea’s if this is possible? (maybe a next version?)
with some basic design features that have to be there to work with the mail router but a lot of the rest is just ‘padding’.
SO
you can create what is known as customised mail file
with elements of your own design
( In practice you create a customised mail template
that way all mailboxes created in your organisation have the enhanced design)
I’ve seen this done e.g. at a customer who did not allow BCC on normal emails - arguing that all recipients had a right to know who else saw this data.
IN YOUR CASE
With some effort you could add , say, an extra addressing button that provides a pick list from the users “sent” list
Going further would be harder. I’m not sure if you can include this in the type ahead or address searching
For that you might need to add (hidden) views to the mail file
that made it function as a local address book for its own addressing
(talk about circular logic)
So it’s not an absolute no - perhaps you need to get prototyping :=0
