Type-ahead feature problems

I have a user who has a problem with the type-ahead feature when putting in the name to send to on an e-mail.

It works ok for most names but for others it is not behaving correctly.

If the user types in “john d” and pesses enter then “john doe” will appear. However if they type in “doe” and press enter then notes doesn’t find the name and just puts a comma after doe.

It is working fine for all other users when trying the same names. The user with the problem does not have a local copy of the address book. They are pointed to the one on the server like everyone else.

Activate recipient name type-ahead is set to “On Each Character”.

Recipient name lookup is set to exhaustively check all address books.

Can anyone help? Is there something in the notes.ini file that I can change?

Well I will say welcome to my pain…

I have had to look at this several time over the last couple of months…

Search here and find loads articles explaining your pain.

Basic Summary-

Type Ahead and Exhaustively check all address books are two different things… When you HIT ENTER/F9/etc you force the client to check the server. Type ahead will be over written by the local address book.

Now for the good news… after years of people saying this was an issue IBM have fixed this is Domino 7.0.3 server and Domino 8. I dont think this si going to be what you wanted to hear but check out the IBM support site it will explain it all.
