Haven’t had a death screen for ages, now two today. ONly thing that has changed is that I upgraded from 6.5.3 to 6.5.4 yesterday.

My first idea would be to uninstall Notes, delete everything remaining in the Notes program directory (except the desktop, ini files and data directory), and reinstall.
If that doesn’t fix it…
While the goal is to solve problems, occasionally problems are introduced with new versions. Not everyone who upgrades to 6.5.4 gets red screens. Therefore, something you’re doing may be encountering some bug newly introduced in that version. What does the error message say? What were you doing at the time you got the errors? If you can reproduce it for support, then we can fix it (or maybe it’s already been fixed).

First time I was compacting my desktop and it died mid process. That time, it did the right thing and shut itself down. Second time I was creating a new database from a local template. Red screen persisted and I had to reboot to get it off. I can email you the log file created by the first crash if it helps. Nothing was produced by the second.

Don’t email log files to me. Make sure you have a valid install, and if you’re still getting errors, call support. They’ll determine whether it’s a known problem before we have to spend any time on it. That’s part of their job.

I have proven my case, now who do I tell!
I completely uninstalled Notes, installed into a new directory, and everything worked fine. I copied my old desktop.ndk into the new notes data directory, and when I did a workspace > Compact, it gave me a red death screen. I took the same desktop file over to a “good” Notes version (6.5.1), ran the compact - no problemo!
Brought the compacted file back over to 6.5.4, run compact - no problemo! Brought back a copy of the bad one - DEATH.
So 6.5.4 has a problemo with compacting (suspect) desktops. Who’s going to fix it.
