Two Organization in single domino domain

I wonder to know that is it possible to create additional organization (top level of organization) in the same domino server with same domino directory. Now the domino’s organizational hierarchy are

user1/OU1/Company1

user2/OU2/Company1

…

…

I have to create additional organizations for another companies like that

user3/Company2

user4/Company2

user5/Company3

user6/Company3

I would appricate if anyone have an advice.

If you are registering new organizations, org units, servers or users, the registration server setting at time of registration is what controls which Names.NSF these are place into. As long as the mail domain is the same, routing will work.

If you are merging existing organizations, you will need to copy documents into one Names.nsf and update the documents, typically the mail domain fields.

As mentioned earlier, you will need to have cross-certificates for the organizations and/or org units. Suggest you consider why you want to have multiple organizations as you would have multiple certifiers to manage and secure.

one more question on the cross-certificate for the O and OU certifier.

suppose the 1st organization is “/Company1”, 2nd hierarachy are “/OU1/Company1” and “OU2/Company2”, which are created from “/Company1”.

Another 2nd new Organization is “/Company2”, then should I just cross-certify the top level of certifier, e.g. /Company1 with /Company2, or cross-certify all OU’s certifier with O’s certfiers; e.g. /OU1/Company1 with /Company2…etc

much easier to cross certify at the Org level (Company1 to Company2) but really depends on your security model.

You can do that, we did it in the past as the first step of integrating new companies that where already in Notes. As far as I can remember it was no problem that there where several O’s in the same domain.
