We have a user who is seeing 2 hompages when she launches Notes. One of them is the original home page, but the other looks different. When she clicks on it, it appears to want to launch the Notes Client, but of course it erros out. She can close the page, but it is there when she restarts.
I tried reinstalling with a repair option, but to no avail.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Subject: Two windows or two Home tabs?
If it’s two windows, this sounds like the problem I saw when I installed 8.5 beta. When launching the client, two windows would appear and upon close inspection, one was the Standard client (with the Eclipse chrome/UI elements) and the other was the Basic client (Win32-window styles, etc.). In looking at the shortcut, the “Start In” field value looked odd, for example: “C:\Notes\framework/…” I removed the final “…” and changed the slash direction on the final slash, saved the shortcut and when I relaunched the issue was gone.
I don’t have an idea if it’s two Home tabs.
Subject: Two home pages???
first check if there is something in the startup folder (toolbar - more bookmarks)
but it sounds like a problem with the bookmarks.nsf
-
exit notes
-
goto the data directory and rename bookmark.nsf to oldbookmark.nsf
-
restart notes → a new bookmark.nsf will be created.
if it starts right, her bookmark.nsf was buggy and it might take some time to find out what it was. the best would be to leave it like that and help her reconfigure her environment with the new bookmark.nsf
write back if the problem persists
