We have one existing domino domain (companyone.com) with approx. 100 users; another group of approx. 15 users is moving to the same building, but they want to keep their ‘domain’ and email addresses (companytwo.com). The companytwo.com users are not currently Notes users, but will be migrated to Notes. Server at that site is 5.12; other servers in sister domain already on 6.5, and can upgrade the 5.12 server if that is preferable.
Obviously I really don’t want another server. I’m confused as to whether I just need a Global domain doc, what needs to be in it, forwarding addresses and no domain in the user’s person doc, hosted org (if so how - option is greyed out) …
Do you mean two internet mail domains and one Domino domain, or two Domino and two Internet mail domains?Both scenarios are possible with Domino 6.x, but exactly which is best for you depends on some additional details.
Such as will both groups of users have access to / be limited based on their domains? Do you envision this changing? Are you familiar with hierarchical organizational units?
There are many choices you could go with, but you will need to look at more details before figuring out what is the best for your scenario.

Yes.
Ideally I’d like the new companytwo.com users to be able to continue to use their existing email addresses, just be on the same server, and also not have a username@companytwo.com@companyone scenario.

Thanks Bill. The kicker is that I want to keep both Domino domains. companyone.com will continue to exist (it’s the main company). companytwo.com is a subsidiary that is being relocated to the same building and migrating users to Notes.
You can use a partioned server installation to solve your problems. See the Administration help on how to set this up. This is effectively a number of separate domino servers running on one box. These share the same program directory so all partitions run the same version of Domino. Each partition has its own data directory and different partitions can be in different Notes domains. For best results, ensure that each partition has a separate network address and configure it so that each partition listens only to its own address.

we had a very similar situation. we had adopted a small company with wown domain name. we hosted thier mail off site and had it forwarded over. Thier notes names were @ourdomain.com, but their internet addresses were @thierdomain.com. Thier messages go out with the proper domain on them as long as you put it correctly in the person and location docs. So when a message is replied to it goes to the off site service and gets forwarded over. This kept os from having to worry about another domain name for so few people.
Subject: You can. It is no problem. Those are not Domino Domains, they are Internet Domains.
As I pointed out your Mail server will recieve those mail messages for both domains. As long as they resolve in the NAB, the server will deliver them to the appropriate person. About the only other thing you will need to to is to configure your Restrictions to allow them to send inbound w/ that internet domain.
