I’m looking for help. I’ve invested a lot of time & effort (and future revenue) in programing an add-in for a Notes template-based application. Normally, I get the job of incorporating the add-in into the customer’s template, and I can hide the design of my most secret bits in an .lss which only I have.
now I have a big customer that insists that only they are allowed to modify their template. They want me to give them the LSS so that they can recompile their libraries after adding in my bits. This means that they can see all my code - so who needs me next time?
Is there any way to secure portions of a design (not Hide Design - that’s all or nothing). I’m thinking of one possibility along the lines of copying my lss encrypted onto a secured medium like a USB,so that it can be read by the compiler but is never stored on the designer’s computer and is not legible.
Please let me have any ideas.

We place our ‘hidden’ script in LSS which the end user does not have access to. They can still compile thier scripts without having access to the LSS. They get an error that your script could not be compiled but the original object code is still there. The only problem I have experienced with this is that periodically my script library appears ‘dirty’ and needs to be re-compiled. I have not been able to figure out what causes the problem, but copying a new copy of the library back into the DB and signing it seems to do the trick.I have had some companies say that they MUST have access to all source, but that is unreasonable. Just ask them if they have access to all of the source code of Windows, SAP, People Soft or whatever.

Hello.
Here’s a tip I picked up from the 2006 Irish Lotus User Group from Bill Buchan of HADSL.
Remove LotusScript source code from script libraries:
Use NotesNoteCollection to find script document.
Replace item $ScriptLib with a String - “Hello”
Con: Not so simple
Pro: Allows all other design elements to be modified.
Dont do this on your development copy…
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the hint. I think it’s one step too far for me, because it will hide all script libraries, not just mine. Am I right?
Subject: I’ll take that back - your solution is excellent
Thanks again - I can do exactly what I want, and with some rethinking and this method, I’ve been able to hide key logic from designers stepping through in debug mode - a double bonus.
