After creating a corporate welcome page and selecting the option to NOT allow users to modify the welcome page, users can still click the drop down that reads “Click here for welcome page options” and change the format of the page. Is there something that I’m missing or does this setting take time to kick in?

If you are having a different problem, please specify exactly what type of welcome page you are using (frame-based vs. personal page, etc.)

I read the post that you linked in your email. Thanks for the reponse. Here is what we did for our corporate welcome page.
We created a new database based on the bookmarks.ntf template and proceeded to create a framed welcome page. We chose the option to not allow users to modify the page. When we click the left arrows within the frames, we get a message stating that the frames contents cannot be changed because the frame is locked. That option was selected during setup also and is working as expected. The dropdown that reads “Click here for Welcome Page options” is still allowing users to change the layout of the page however. Is this a bug or am I missing something?
PS
I tried going into the Welcome2 frameset where that information appears to be loading from and selected that frame. I can delete that frame and the problem is solved but then the designers wouldn’t be able to edit the page either. Thusfar, my workaround has been to hide the text in the WPPreferences form.

Were you running in “Advanced Mode” when you created the framed welcome page? When running in "Advanced mode* in the welcome page database, you get an additional screen in the Welcome Page Wizard with administrative options. One of those checkboxes is “Allow end users to edit this page”. Default is “on”, but if you un-check the box, end-users will not be able to edit the layout – meaning, the “Click for more welcome page options” frame will still be click-able, but the “Customize this page” and “Delete” hotspots will be hidden from your users.
Perhaps I have misunderstood your posting. Did you actually uncheck the “Allow end users to edit this page” on the advanced panel of the wizard? If you did, please state exactly how users are able to customize their framed welcome page.

Yes, I was running in advanced mode and had unchecked the box that allows users to edit the page. Users were somehow still getting the drop down that reads “Click here for Welcome Page options” and the customize and delete options were still working. I worked around it by finding the page that contains that information and hiding the text.

Sorry, I am not able to reproduce your problem when I use a Framed welcome page. Both the “Customize this page” and “Delete” hotspots are hidden if I have unchecked the advanced option mentioned in my previous posting. I CAN reproduce the problem using a Personal Page welcome page. That is the bug that was referred to here:

warning: Design changes do not propagate to users’ bookmark files via Dynamic Config. So changing the form and hiding the hotspots will do nothing for the user unless you go to their individual machines and update the design.

I think I am experiencing a problem that is related to this. I am an end user but my helpdesk hasn't been able to figure out the issue for about 3 weeks now. When I try to customize my Welcome Page in Notes 6.0.1, I only have the option to choose frames and then I can't put a database view into any of the frames (Notes gives me a message saying that I haven't pasted a link when I clearly have gone through the steps to do so). The edit button in the Quick Links option doesn't do anything either and from the message I get in the frame when Quick Links is selected (Your Welcome Page has been upgraded to a new design. The Quick Links that displayed in this frame in R5 have been replaced with a new feature called the "Launch Pad". Click the top border of the Welcome Page that says "Click here for more Welcome Page options" and then click "Customize this page". Use the wizard to choose the Launch Pad.) I suspect that I'm not supposed to be getting Quick Links as an option at all - but the Launch Pad is NOT an option on my list.
It turns out that people in our company who were migrated to Notes 6 are having this problem but everyone who got a new computer with a fresh build are not (they have full customization options). My helpdesk doesn't seem to understand the issue and I need this in some sort of blunt English to get them to fix it.
Am I right that this is an issue with administration of the welcome page database and the need for upgrading that to Notes 6?
