Trying to gain access to an .ntf file

Hi,

I am trying to make some modifications to our

5.0.12 template, but keep getting the message

“you are not authorized to perform that operation”

I wanted to use the 6.0 version of the designer to edit it, but it cannot access this template.

I tried going back to the 5.0.12 server to change

the access control from the admin, but I get the message “You are not authorized to perform that operation”

on there as well.

I checked that the ntf mail file is not read only.

I was hoping to make some modifications to it before pushing it out to the clients.

I didn’t have problems with other templates, such as 5.10, 6.0, 6.01.

If you know of how to gain access to this file, I would be very grateful if you could throw some pointers at me.

Thanks, Josie

Have you checked the ACL for the template yet. If you are not listed with appropriate rights, see if any other individual or group has manager rights. You may be able to use them to gain or grant you necessary rights to edit/modify the template. The problem you face is an ACL issue. You need to attack it as such. One possible but somewhat extreme solution is to copy the file locally and modify it’s ACL. Then replace the file on the server. You will most likely need to shut down Domino to avoid sharing violations. Use the operating system to copy and replace the file.

Hello Josephine !

Uses client NLNOTES.EXE of the server (X:\Lotus\Domino\nlnotes.exe) you worked with ID of the server, You open the base, soon modifies the ACL.

Thank you so much for your time Christian (and Randy too).

I wasn’t able to open the ACL list until …

as you suggested:

I opened it with the nlnotes.exe of the server.

Then I could acess the ACL

I changed the ACL and now I can work with it, and I’m happy!
