We currently use Trendmicro and we block attachments such as exe’s and pif’s etc. However does anyone know whether Trendmico can actaully scan and block email items which have attachments that are zipped, and block the email if it contains an attachment within the zip file that is suppose to be blocked? If so, could someone tell me what version they are using and how?

It’s a check box on the configuration document. That works because that’s how I get my users.

I think that Trend allows you to recurse through ZIP files. I don’t have the Trend Configuration in front of me, but there should be some field that tells you how many levels into the ZIP file it will go looking for your banned attachments.

We have Trend Micro Scanmail 3.0 and the administration manual indicates that you can do this in the scan options, advanced area, Scanmail has a default list of compressed file types and ‘you can select the number of layers of compression to scan via the scan restrictions tab’.
