Traveler/Verse on Android upgrade

Hi,

I’m a bit confused where to search in the forums, so i apologize if its the wrong one; but as the IBM marketing guys constantly rename the apps, it doesn’t help.
Anyway, here’s the situation:

As i want users to connect from their smartphones (Android) to a on-premise Traveler server, we need to install an application on the smartphones.
IBM recommends to download “IBM Verse” from the Google Play Store. Ok. But, a Google account is needed… Not so fan to tell each user to do so… What should for a company be the right strategy: one account for each smartphone user ? One for all ?
At this time, if i follow this path, IBM Verse 9.5.4.0 is installed on the smartphone. Great.

Second possibilty is to login to the on-premise “Traveler” server (9.0.1.11) and download the app from the server (also requires an account, but as it’s my Notes account, it doesn’t hurt). Works perfectly.
Unfortunatly, the app installed is not “IBM Verse”: its “IBM Traveler” and version 9.0.1.3 ! Not the same look (and possibilities probably - i’ve not checked…).

The Traveler web admin allows to play a bit with the Traveler clients and remove old ones but not to add one. I found the Verse 9.5.4.0 apk but coppying it in the Traveler server folders doesn’t help as it should be recorded int the Traveler database (according to an IBM document found).
I think the Android/iOS/Windows client should also have been upgraded with the Traveler Fix Pack. It’s hot have been the case on my server.

So, my question is:
Is it possible to update the IBM Verse (Android or whatever) application on the IBM Traveler server to avoid using Google’s Play Stotre (and account) ?
And, of course, if yes, how ?

Thanks a lot if you have any advice,

Yan

You will need to investigate a few Mobile Device Management platforms like MobileIron or AirWatch and see if they can do what you want.
