So, I have to admit that although I’ve been managing a domino domain and multiple servers for 15+ years, this Traveler thing is new to me. On the up side - it just mostly works so there’s not a lot of ongoing maintenance needed. Which also becomes a down side, it mostly works so it was a quick install originally, but there are some ongoing admin things that escape me. I say down side, because I apparently didn’t have to dig thru documentation they way I did when we installed BES, so it just mostly runs.
After working a recent PMR with IBM, I noticed dozens of files in the \IBM_TECHNICAL_SUPPORT\traveler\logs\tprs folder. Some appear to be auto generated, some appear to be generated by a user from their device (I’m only assuming that).
From pawing thru the tpr folder, I answered a question that I had of my own - which is, on the webpage from which the user installs Traveler, there is a link to ‘Report a problem with IBM Notes Traveler to your server administrator.’. I had always wondered where these go. Now I know - they go to the tpr folder.
Poking around today, there also appear to be some new files in the \IBM_TECHNICAL_SUPPORT\traveler\logs\dumps folder.
So, what does a guy do with these files? They’re greek to me, and unless a user calls the helpdesk (or me) to report that they’re having an issue - files are just piling up on the server going nowhere.
I don’t see much of a future opening a PMR to upload a bunch of random tprs and dumps to IBM, unless someone reports a specific problem to me. Should I be doing something with these? Just deleting them as part of monthly server maintenance ?
Additional issue is - when a user takes the time to ‘Report a problem with IBM Notes Traveler to your server administrator.’ - and a tpr is created, they’d probably have an expecation that the administrator actually IS notified - not that some file just is squirreled away somewhere.
So - what (else) did I miss in the install/upgrade - how do I get notified when dumps are taken or TPRs are created?
Thanks!
