Traveler support for iPhone Passcode

My company wants to force a simple Passcode on all Mobile devices, but I have a problem. I cannot successfully modify the apple.xml file to force the iPhone to have a passcode. Policies that are set in Traveler that work on Windows Mobile devices do not flow to the iPhone.

I also cannot create a custom .mobileconfig file (encrypted or not) using the iPhone Configuration utility that I put on the Domino Server that forces the user to enter a passcode when the profile is loaded. It never finishes installation on the iPhone with “Installing Profile” displayed until I give up and hit the Home button.

The only way I can get a profile on the iPhone that forces a Passcode is to create a profile using the iPhone Configuration utility and then load it over my USB cable.

Does anyone have a solution that would allow me to avoid generating custom configurations and loading them via USB? What am I doing wrong?

This should work - Create the profile from the device, but then you need to add the Traveler portions from Apple.xml to this file and then replace Apple.xml with the new version.

If this still does not work then please open a request for support so we can look at your xml file to make sure it is standard format and troubleshoot further.

Cory, Thanks for your response. I have actually done all that previously. I have edited apple.xml directly to add the passcode module and that did not work. I cut and pasted the passcode module from a .mobileconfig file that I exported unencrypted and put it in the apple.xml file (while making sure there were not active comments). I have created a whole new apple.xml file from scratch using a .mobileconfig file as well with no success. I will have my admin open a ticket with support. Thanks.

When you export the config file, you need to rename the file to apple.xml from whatever.mobileconfig

Subject: apple.xml

I have created a custom apple.xml file, by editing the original one with the commented out sections made active with updated passcode values. It still does not work. I’m hoping someone at Lotus can shed some light on this issue and if there is any chance of it working in 8.5.1.
