Traveler policy security settings not supported for s60

I am testing Traveler on a Domino 8.5 HF1 server, linked with Nokia e71 mobile phones (Symbian s60). I tried creating a Traveler Settings policy document to force a PIN code on the e71, but nothing happened. The policy failed to “take”, although no errors were generated. I searched everywhere for the reason; in this forum, the help databases, the infopub document for Traveler 8.5 known limitations, kbase, etc. I finally found it. If you go into the traveler.nsf database created on the Traveler server, choose an entry for an e71, and go to the Device Security section, you will see that “Security Policy Compliance” is set to “Not Supported”.

I wanted to share that for the next person testing Symbian phones. If this is documented elsewhere, please share a link.

Can anyone tell me if/when IBM plans on supporting security on s60 mobile phones?

Thanks,

Steve

It does not look clearly spelled out, but in the Whats new for 8.5 section it states that you can apply Security Policies to Windows Mobile devices.

At any rate - Security for s60 is the major functional enhancement in the next release of Lotus Notes Traveler. No specific dates are available at this time, but target is sometime in 2nd half of 2009.

Thanks for the response, Corey. Good to know this will be enhanced with the next version.
