Anybody know how to configure traveler to get data from local replica of the mail databases instead of going to the users home mail server?
The setup is like this internal Domino mail & application server, replication of mail databases too a DMZ based www and webmail server. And now also Traveler.
I am assuming the web mail server is a Domino Server and you plan on installing the Traveler Server on that same server… If that is correct then this can be accomplished by changing the person document in the names.nsf of the Web Mail Server. You would need to change the Mail Server entry for the person document to point to the Web Mail server instead of the User’s home mail server. This of course will cause issues if you replicate the webmail names.nsf with the rest of your mail domain, so you need to take that into account before making any changes.
Actually we have something similar to this setup. We created a staging domain for testing new products. This domain has a seperate names.nsf file than the main corporate domain and has person documents that point to mail servers in the staging domain(could be local server). The actual mail files however are just replicas of our real mail files in the main corporate domain. This allows us to test using our real mail data in the staging domain with reduced risk to the main corporate domain.
