How can I sync the opposite way first off when settings upp notes traveler on the phone?
If I use the default settings it will waste my phone calendar and contacts. Is it possible to do the opposite way to the notes calendar and contacts?

This depends on the device. For the I-Phone/I-Touch we do not have any logic on the phone itself, using 100% existing I-Phone applications, which has some limitations, including this one. Only way to preserver calendar data is to not sync the calendar with Notes. For contacts if you upgrade your I-phone to v3.0 or later the existing contacts will be preserved on the device, but will not sync up to your notes address book.
Windows Mobile and Nokia devices behave a little differently as you do install a Traveler client on these devices. During registration and subsequently the first sync, you are prompted if you want to do a replace sync or merge sync of contact data. Selecting the merge then combines device and server contacts and syncs this back up to your address book. Calendar data however is not preserved as with I-Phone - it is either synced or not synced.
