Traveler and USB/Bluetooth sync

Hello,I have been reading about Lotus Notes Traveler and it’s syncing capabilities over an IP network, but, does it provide a way to sync over a USB connection, or Bluetooth?

The use case is for PDA’s with WM5/6 but no wireless or phone.

Thank you in advance,

You can use your WM device with any ActiveSync connection (USB, Bluetooth, IR, etc.). When the WM device is connected to ActiveSync, that is providing a virtual IP network interface, so it functions just like the IP network you were reading about.

The only thing to be careful about is the ActiveSync profile you setup for the device. Because Traveler uses the data stores already built into the device (except for mail which has its own mailbox), you have to make sure not to use ActiveSync and Traveler to synchronize the same database. For example, don’t setup your ActiveSync profile and Traveler to both sync calendar. This will mess things up by missing updates to one or the other. This should not be a problem - just something to be aware of.

Thanks Robert, unfortunately ActiveSync is not a viable solution as we are working on a Linux Desktop (I probably should have mentioned that in my first message). Nevertheless your idea sent me on a different path and I am now taking a look at the various syncing solutions for Linux (SynCE, opensync).

Anyway, personally I think OTA syncing is the way to go from now on, after all, we’re in the 21st century, aren’t we?

Thanks,
