At Lotusphere 2009, IBM announced that Traveler would use MS’s ActiveSync technology to sync email and calendars with the iPhone. I can’t find any update on this functionality. What’s the status?

Active Sync support is currently in development with planned release in second half of 2009. This would include I-phone devices.

A decent workaround until the availability is to use Companionlink ($30) to sync Notes calendar data with google and then set up the active sync functionality with google and the iPhone.
Works like a charm for me but of course only if you don’t mind to “share” your data with google 
You can sync up to five calenders which is nice in case you want to organise your data as each calender shows up with its own color in the iPhone.
