Traveler 8.5.2 in Domino 8.5.1 environment - bad idea?

I have a site with 12 Domino 8.5.1 servers locked to 8.5.1 since a hosting partner hosts several servers including the Administration server. Hosting partner will upgrade servers to 8.5.2 later, but cannot say when.I am to install Traveler on a dedicated server and would really like to go for Traveler 8.5.2. But the administration server and Domino Directory must stay on relase 8.5.1 for some months.

Will I be in trouble by doing so? I will not have the new 8.5.2 fields in Domino directory, and there may be issues, or…?

If i could convince the hosting partner to upgrade at least the directory to 8.5.2 (keeping servers on 8.5.1), would I be home free?

We are in a similar situation (all 30+ servers) where we have 8.5.1 fp4 for our primary Domino Directory. We decided to install Traveler onto a dedicated machine inside our DMZ and did so with its own Domino Directory. It works perfectly.

We basically followed this:

Good luck

See this Wiki article for more information:http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/dominowiki.nsf/dx/Downlevel_Domino_directory_servers_LNT852

You should be able to do what you suggest (upgrade directory to 8.5.2, upgrade Domino server running Traveler to 8.5.2 (but not other Domino servers), and install Traveler 8.5.2).
