Traveler 8.5.2 for Symbian

Hi allI’m using Traveler 8.5.2 on my Nokia E65, and I noticed a strange behavior with network connection.

Once the application is started on the phone, it hooks on the network even if it is not syncing, and it stays connected indefinitely.

The only way to make it disconnect is to exit from Traveler, but of course in this way no sync can take place.

Navigating through various settings I could not find anything to modify this behavior.

Can anyone give me some info about this issue?

Should we consider it a bug, or is it an intended feature that has a specific meaning?

Thanks and regards

Marco

Really no one using Traveler on Nokia? There are some Nokia phones (business target) that are shipped with Traveler preinstalled, so it’s hard for me to believe that no one noticed this …

This is a problem in the LotusInstaller application. It has been fixed and will be available in the next generally available code for Traveler 8.5.2 (which will be the complete language refresh in November). You may be able to work around this by uninstalling LotusInstaller for now and then re-installing it later. You will lose the automatic update feature if it is not installed, but that would only be temporary.

Subject: Traveler 8.5.2 for Symbian: still not working well

Hi Bill and thanks for your reply.

I followed your suggestion and uninstalled LotusInstaller, but nothing changed.

When activating Lotus Traveler, the phone still connects to internet and remains there even if no sync in process.

So probably it is not something only related to LotusInstaller I guess.

As new maintenance release is coming soon (you said november, isn’t it?), let’s wait for it and see what happens.

Maybe Android client will also be available, and provided it is working well I could consider to talk to Santa Klaus about a new phone

Thanks and regards

I followed up more closely with our Symbian developer and looks like this issue also exists in the Traveler client itself, so the removing LotusInstaller will not make a difference. This will be fixed in the next update for Traveler which should be out in the first couple of weeks of November (it will be included in the next language refresh). You can always check for maintenance release updates and what to download from this technote:

Also, this article is handy for showing all of the releases and the contents of each.

Subject: still a power problem with 20101016_1905

Installed the latest version of Traveler on N97 and there still seems to be an issue with battery life - battery is only lasting 3 hrs!

Please fix ASAP - this is a serious issue.

You need to open a PMR for this so that we can see logs (FINEST on the server) along with a TPR from the device.

Subject: The same problem

I have exactly the same problem. And I confirm that it is related to Lotus Traveler. Not to Lotus Installer.

My Nokia E71 connects to internet when I start Traveler and disconnects when I exit.

Settings > Auto Sync > Schedule: Manual

Bill, where can I see the list of known issues for Traveler 8.5.2 to be sure that this ploblem will be in a fix list?
