Since upgrading servers to Domino 6.5, all trash is being removed after 48 hours regardless of settings in Tools->Preferences. For my mail file the setting is currently 1000 hours. The database properties advanced tab also shows soft deletes enabled and set at 1000 hours. This is happening to all mail files. The upgrade was from Domino 6.0.2 CF2.

In the hopes of getting interest in the issue, I am adding more information.
My trash is currently set to 1000 hours and it appears to he holding, my trash contains items which are 30 days old.
A user has the soft delete option set to 2000 hours and his trash goes away after 48 hours. This started with the upgrade to 6.5. I am performing a rollout soon where the client wishes to utilize the soft delete option beyond the default, but the functionality is not consistent. Does anyone know of an upper limit to the soft delete retention that causes the setting to be ignored if set too high?
