I am looking into enabling transaction logging for one of our servers. It is our backup server that our 4 mail servers and 2 application servers backup to. No users are on this server and it has a 1TB disk free too. Could someone tell me what the pros and cons are for enabling transaction logging please?
Subject: Enabling transaction logging.
Hi,
I’m have enabling transaction logging on my Domino mail and DB servers, 7.03 - 8.5.2.
I think restoring a mai Db to the point just a few seconde before the user deleted trash is just great.
I have at util to remove deletion stubs and just have to replicate the restored Db and all documents are restored
to folders, calendar and Inbox.
We have had a few incidents of poor performance on servers and transaction logging directory not getting backup up. Then the
disk is just filled.
The performance incidents had been transaction logging directory on same volume as data directory or spool files for printers.
Last issue was memory problem because MS server 2008/R2 and Windows 7 didn’t clear some cached file informations.
See this Http://support.microsoft.com/kb/974609. I think you can se this error when data size is reaching about 400 - 500 GB.
