Subject: Backup solution is responsible for this
You can’t use archival style logging without a backup solution that is designed for and supports archival transaction logging. When the log extent(s) are backed up, they are marked inactive and can then be purged automatically.
Subject: backup software
im running ca arcserve backup 12.5. Im also licensed for the ca lotus notes open file agent.
Subject: Inactivate the log files
You will need to create a job to “Inactivate” the log files that have been backed up. Not sure how it works in Arcserve but in Tivoli Data Protection for Domino there is a command in which Tivoli tells Domino that the “transaction log files have been backed up” When this happens Domino will allow reuse of the space. As previously stated if a backup system does not inform Domino the logs have been backed up Domino will not release the space they occupy for reuse.
