This has been a condition for awhile. It is a column that counts the number of documents in a category. It has a default value of 1. It displays the correct number in designed, but as soon as you enter the client, it increases by 1 for only the first category. There is one categorized column that precedes the totals column. After that, there is another categorized column that breaks the categories down into subcategories. There is a phantom subcategory being created, that lists 1 document…but when you expand the twistie, there is nothing there. It is the most popular category, but again in designer it is not there. If an actual document is created for that category, then it will display 2, when in reality there is only 1. I have tried every variation on this view, i.e., I have done a simple “Preview” to bring the view up outside of the frameset, etc. With the same result. Has anyone else had this strange behavior? There might be a document in there that you cannot see (due to a Readers field) which is why you don’t see it in designer.
However, the server CAN see it, and so it’s included in the view - you can see the categories it creates, but not the document itself.

Thanks for your response. That makes sense, but readers fields are not being used at all in this database.

Any doncument can have a Readers field set through the Document Properties - it does not have to be in the database’s design.

Right…but as in the example properties that you posted, the bit is set to allow all readers and above access, and I have manager access. Thanks.

Ah, my example was to show the panel that anyone might have used to add a readers field. And Manager authority does NOT override readers fields - they are the highest level of security (shy of encryption) that Notes offers.
You can “prove” that this is the case by putting the NotesID into the category of the view - that would show you there there is a hidden document present.

Graham, I know that manager access does not override reader fields…I am a PCLP in app dev R5 I am pretty familiar with how all of that works…there is not a hidden document present here I assure you…
WAIT – Revision – I am honest and I must admit – I went to the users desktop remotely, who was associated with that subcategory I mentioned previously…(the subcategory was a username), just to give it a shot before I posted something erroneously. Bingo…hats off, you were right, and I was about to be drastically wrong…she had set reader access to a certain set of users…I flagged it all readers and above, went back to my own desktop, and there it was.

If you have users who are setting reader fields on documents that you don’t want them to, just include a readers field in your forms with a value of “*”, which will grant reader’s access to everyone.

How about creating an “All Docs” view and use the JUST the form name to check your document count? Do the same of BOTH dbs.
