Too many crashes

Hallo to All,

What we did:

an Administrator deleted double group documents with “Delete” from the toolbar in the administrator client.

He saw that not only the “deleted” groups disappear and called me.

To avoid that this changes will distribute to the other servers or in databases we stopped replication and the administration process.

The other directories still have the original data. Adminp not started.

Shut down domino server and get copies from names.nsf and admin4.nsf before the deletion of the group documents.

According to a problem with the Server (W2008 – Std. Server 64 bit) rebooted the server.

During reboot server crashes – power off.

At the start sequence the server informed that damaged dlls will be repaired.

W2008 Server installed new updates. (automatic updates not activated)

Copy names.nsf and admin4.nsf into the data dir. from the server.

The result after automatic domino server start:

After one minute stopped with too many crashes.

This behavior remains also after the following actions:

• Starting without additional tasks.

• Restored files from backup (system files and data – only data from the root (mail and applications in subfolders not restored).

• Install Interim fix and new java components.

• Reinstall domino-server with language pack.

• Uninstall Microsoft updates.

• Uninstall domino-server and install new (64 bit).

• Uninstall domino-server and install new (32 bit).

After every uninstall and install we restarted the system.

Still the problem: Too many crashes. Not a specific task.

The information in the NSD dumps differs.

After reinstalling the W2008 Server (with all updates) and the Domino 8.5 Server with Language Pack (replace) with the working data the server works.

We assume that the problem was the combination of w2008 crash at first restart (dll-repair) and install server-updates, and not a domino fault.

Now the questions:

  1. Was the way in section “what we did” correct?

  2. Operating system or domino fault?

  3. Is there an easier way to solve a problem like this?
