TLS in the Notes client

I am using the Notes client version 9.0.1 FP9. I want to configure mail retrieval from a POP server and sending to an SMTP server using SSL. I was under the impression that this feature was enabled in FP4, but I can’t seem to configure it.

I create account documents for POP and SMTP, and enable SSL for each. Under ‘SSL Protocol Version’, there is no TLS option, just various versions of v2.0 and v3.0 and ‘negotiated’. None will work with the server I’m trying to reach.

Am I missing something? Is there another way to enable TLS for mail send/retrieval ?

See https://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/dominowiki.nsf/dx/IBM_Domino_TLS_1.0 https://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/dominowiki.nsf/dx/IBM_Domino_TLS_1.0

and

https://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/dominowiki.nsf/dx/TLS_1.2 https://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/dominowiki.nsf/dx/TLS_1.2

In those documents, it is noted that:

“Since Interim Fixes do not permit changes to the user interface or to templates used for configuration (e.g. Domino server document, Internet site document where SSL is configured), all SSL configuration options remain in the UI. However, as mentioned above, the installation of this Interim Fix will override your existing configuration with support for TLS 1.2”

You will probably want to select “negotiated” to select the highest TLS version available to both client and server.

Subject: cert?

Thanks, Ben for your response. I’ve tried with ‘negotiated’ as the SSL type, but I get rejected by the SMTP/POP server.

I’m wondering, does the client need to have an SSL cert installed for this to work? I know how to install an SSL cert on a server, but how do I install one in the client? any suggestions?
