Hi,
I’ve looked at the server document from the NAB. In those documents, you have 2 fields called TimeZone and DST, they are located in the Basics Tab of the server document.
I’ve did a test on few NAB containing various Notes servers (Linux, Windows, Notes 7.x,6.5.x,5.X).
For the vast majority of them, the value for the TimeZone is 5. Which is ok for us. But for few of them, the value is 4, which is incorrect. Those servers are 5.0.11 and 6.5.4.
Do anyone know how those fields are set?
Does it makes a difference if the field DST is set to 1 or 0?
Are the values important for a Domino server?
There is a hide-when formula which makes those fields invisible (Clients 4.6 and up)
It’s suppose to be in the “Server location information”
in the design:

Those are hidden as the functionality is not intended to be user edited any more.
You can see the outcome in the notes.ini which dynamically sets the correct values on server start-up.
Good catch -

Hi Michael,
Thanks for the input.
That’s what i saw on my test server. The value of the TimeZone field is updated upon server restart based on the OS timeZOne value.
My other concern is about the DST field.
From version 6.0 and up, Domino is based on the OS for all the TimeZOne values. So it should be DST=1.
If I have a R6 server that DST=0, what will be the effect?
thank you,
By the way, you work for IBM? Are you Michael E, G, K, S , S(Mike)?

DST=0 would indicate that at server start-up we were not in the “saving” period.
I did a quick test where I removed the parameter and restarted the server and it was reset to DST=0 even though the OS is set to observe DST.
Lotus Domino (r) Server (Release 7.0.1 for Windows/32) 03/07/2007 10:06:02 PM
sho config dst
DST=0
Can code review if needed, but I don’t expect a problem. Is there any indication of a failure?

Hi Michael,
It’s not a malfunction but i did a test for one of our clients.
For 610 Notes servers, 37 of them had the DST=0 (From various Notes version 5.0.8 and 6.5.4)
I would expect a value of DST=1 because they are all set in the same timezone, they are located in the same state.
So will those servers reset their time on march 11th?
I don’t know , I’m only worried about “potential” impacts. Maybe i’m freaking out!
But maybe i’m too involved in the DST issue
Thank you,
JYR
