Subject: thought it is simple, but…(web Application)
You didn’t make it easy to help you because you didn’t mention why you think it is not working, what error messages you are getting, what debugging steps you have taken, etc.
If I understand the scenario, instead of using a button, you want to use an image with an onClick event to get the value from one field, open a new window, and put the value into a specific field. Right? That is very doable.
First code the onClick event of the image with JavaScript. Do some debugging to make sure it is getting the current value. Then open a new window and put the value in. Don’t forget that by default Domino does not render read only fields as fields unless your form is set to render all fields. You can code up the field manually with an tag with READONLY set.
var theValue = document.forms[0].origfield.value;
…
var urlstr = ‘put a URL here…’;
var winFeatures = ‘resizable=yes,scrollbars=yes,menubar=yes,toolbar=yes,location=yes,status=yes,left=200,top=200,width=780,height=500’;
var wMyNew = window.open( urlstr, ‘’, winFeatures );
wMyNew.focus();
…
wMyNew.newField.value = theValue;
…
p.s. It would be better to use getElementByID form.
