We have a database of size 1700 MB. When the users try to open it an error message “This view is being updated.It will display as soon as the update completes. You can continue to work with other Notes windows while the view is updating”
The documents have readers fields.
It takes ages, until all the documents are displayed. Can any one suggest a faster process to update the documents?

I had the same issue. For the first time you allow the notes to update all the documents. It will take much time. Then from the next time the process will be faster. To avoid this time delay you have to archive the unneccessary documents to a new database.

This is a new behavior in R7.x. In older versions I think that the views were just as slow to open, you just didn’t get the white screen with the “please wait” message. In general to speed up views you want to minimize the number of columns that are sorted.Check this article on performance tuning for other suggestions;
